Bas-mangoky Perimeter Extension Project, Phase Ii
the Overall Objective of the Project is to Strengthen Self-sufficiency in Rice and the Income of Populations in the South-west. the Specific Objective is to Improve Agricultural Productivity to Increase Production in the South-west. the Project Will Benefit 63,700 People, 35% of Whom Are Women Who Will Derive Their Sources of Income From Agricultural Employment. at Least 4,000 Direct Jobs Will Be Created Thanks to the Project, Through Support for Agribusiness, the Promotion of Essential Services, the Promotion of Nutrition and the Execution of Development Works; Due to the Close Link Between Conflicts and Food Insecurity, the Project Wants to Anticipate Three Major Sources of Fragility Which Can Impact Agriculture and Food Security, Namely: Recurrent Exposure to Climatic Hazards, Social Inequality Due to the Low Income of the Local Population and the Fragility/low Capacity of the Structures Responsible for Water Management and Investments, the Solution for Which for the Area is the Improvement of Crop Irrigation.
