                                                The project aims to reduce flood risks in certain cities and strengthen climate risk and disaster management capacities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, specifically in Kinshasa and Kalemie. It includes institutional strengthening for better disaster risk management, investments in resilient infrastructure to manage flooding, project management activities, and emergency response interventions. Restoration works for riverbanks in Kalemie, rehabilitation of roads and drainage systems in Kalemie, rehabilitation of a retaining wall around Lake Tanganyika, acquisition of hydro-cleaning trucks, high-capacity pumps for emergency pumping services in Kinshasa and Kalemie, acquisition of materials and equipment for certain ministries and agencies, provision of emergency equipment for community early warning in Kinshasa and Kalemie, technical studies and monitoring for restoration works and drainage systems, recruitment of a consulting firm for a comprehensive drainage network study in Kinshasa, technical studies for civil engineering works in Kalemie and Kinshasa, implementation of stakeholder mobilization plans, development of drainage master plans, training and capacity building for certain ministries and agencies, technical support for the development of a disaster risk management law and related policies.
