Expression of interest for International Technical Assistant in Environmental and Social Safeguarding
Under the Direct Supervision of the National Coordinator of the Maritime Corridor Development and Regional Trade Facilitation Project, the International Technical Assistant for Environmental and Social Safeguards is Responsible for Carrying Out and Supervising All Activities Related to the Integration of Environmental and Social Dimensions Into the Project in Close Collaboration with the Project Management Unit and the General Directorate of the Environment of the Union of Comoros. the Mission Must Be Carried Out in Accordance with the Safeguard Policies of the African Development Bank (afdb) and the Applicable National Legislation, as Well as the Best Practices in the Sector Regarding the Management of Potential Environmental and Social Risks.
The Union of the Comoros has received a grant from the African Development Fund (ADF) to cover the cost of the Maritime Corridor Development and Regional Trade Facilitation Project. It is anticipated that part of the funds allocated under this grant will be used to recruit an International Technical Assistant for Environmental and Social Safeguards.
2. Under the direct supervision of the National Coordinator of the Maritime Corridor Development and Regional Trade Facilitation Project, the International Technical Assistant for Environmental and Social Safeguards is responsible for carrying out and supervising all activities related to integrating the environmental and social dimension into the project, in close collaboration with the Project Management Unit and the Directorate General of the Environment of the Union of the Comoros. The mission must be carried out in accordance with the safeguard policies of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and applicable national legislation, as well as best practices in the sector for managing potential environmental and social risks.
3. The services will be entrusted to an International Technical Assistant in Environmental and Social Safeguards, holding a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, Agronomy, Land Management, Hydraulics, Ecosystem Management, or Engineering, with a minimum of a degree in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) or a related field, and possessing significant professional experience of fifteen (15) years in environmental and social fields and specific experience of eight (8) years in the preparation, monitoring, and implementation of environmental and social safeguard instruments (ESMCs, PRCs, ESIAs/ESMPs) within the framework of development projects financed by development banks.
