Call for Individual Consultants call for External Collaborators – Research on Occupational Safety and Health and Access to Social Protection for Workers in Two Agricultural and Forestry Supply Chains in Congo, Oshe Branch/ilo Country Office Kinshasa
Dear Bidder, The International Labour Office (ILO) is seeking an individual to work as an external consultant. Below is a summary of the tasks to be performed, and the detailed terms of reference are attached. The objective of this consultancy is to conduct two research projects in the Republic of Congo: an assessment of the incentives and constraints to improving occupational health and safety (OHS) and access to social protection for workers in the sunflower and soybean value chain; and an assessment of the incentives and constraints to improving OHS in the forestry value chain. Both projects will involve qualitative research combining the following elements: a review of available literature; workplace observations; the collection of administrative data on OHS and social protection; and semi-structured interviews with employers, workers, farmers, and support staff. Focus groups with workers and farmers, and interviews with representatives of the multinational enterprise(s), as appropriate, will be conducted. To carry out both research projects, the consultant will be supported by a second consultant with expertise in occupational health and safety (OHS) and social protection. In addition to supporting literature reviews, data collection, and report writing, this consultant will be responsible for conducting observations to identify occupational hazards and the prevention and control measures in place at the selected workplaces.
