Tenders Are Invited for Ferry connections Rhoon Ferry & Puttersveer
Description :? The Municipality of Hoeksche Waard intends to tender the contract for the Rhoons Veer and Puttersveer ferry connections. Both ferries are bicycle and pedestrian ferries. The purpose of this tender is to select one operator per lot for the execution and operation of: • Lot 1: the Rhoons Veer • Lot 2: the Puttersveer. For both Lot 1 and Lot 2, a condition precedent applies. This entails that the final award and the resulting agreement for Lot 1 and/or Lot 2 will only be concluded after the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Hoeksche Waard has decided to make all necessary financial resources (the budget) available for all (operating) contributions required for the execution of the entire contract/agreement (for the entire duration). Lot 1 concerns the Rhoons Veer ferry connection. The Rhoons Veer is a bicycle and pedestrian ferry and currently operates year-round on weekdays. From the second weekend in May up to and including the second weekend in September, the ferry also operates on weekends and public holidays. On weekdays, the ferry operates from early morning until early evening. The ferry carries an average of approximately 33,000 passengers per year (average 2024–2025) and serves an important function for commuters, schoolchildren, and recreational users. Lot 2 concerns the Puttersveer ferry connection. Puttersveer is a bicycle-pedestrian ferry and currently operates year-round on weekdays. From the second weekend in May up to and including the second weekend in September, the ferry also operates on weekends and public holidays. On weekdays, the ferry operates from early morning until early evening. The ferry carries an average of approximately 41,200 passengers per year (average 2024–2025) and also sees mixed use by utilitarian and recreational traffic.
